N.B. All levels will have 2 sessions with each tutor (one on Saturday and one on Sunday)
Anne-Marie
Anne-Marie will be looking at how the different modes give traditional Irish music it’s flavour. She’ll also be discussing her approaches to Left-Hand accompaniment for tunes, and exploring some of the rich repertoire of O’Carolan tunes.
Diego
Make January feel a little warmer with some lively Latin-American rhythms! Diego will take you on a musical adventure through the Colombian-Venezuelan plains, sharing tunes and techniques for approaching South-American music. Exploring various tune types, Diego will unravel the rich musical tapestry that defines these diverse landscapes. Sure to get your feet tapping!
Eleanor
Ellie’s versatility as a musician means that her classical technique informs, but does not inhibit, every choice she makes. Her compositions and arrangements draw from a vast toolbox of techniques and she will explore repertoire from around the world to demonstrate different approaches. She will look at how to play with expression and vibrancy to help bring pieces to life.
Michelle
Michelle’s workshops will explore the rich world of Irish traditional music, focusing on learning Irish traditional tunes and developing ornamentation and creative arrangements. Through hands on playing, listening, and discussion participants will gain insight into the unique rhythmic, melodic and stylistic elements that make traditional tunes so distinctive.
